Sidhartha Mallya, who has just ventured into films, insists he has had a normal upbringing, something that prepared him to take on the rejections and struggles integral to the life of an actor The son of an industrialist opts to become a movie actor. So, he steps out of his plush comfort zone and prepares himself for rejection and ridicule. Siddharth Mallya’s persistence has paid off. His debut flick, Brahman Naman releases today. He plays the goodlooking antagonist Roonie, who is the main rival of the lead character, Naman. Ronnie is a cricket player who attracts girls easily much to Naman’s dismay. Is this an extension of his real life persona He is amused, “Not at all, remember the movie is set in the 80s. But it’s a decent supporting role.”Why would Vijay Mallya’s son opt for a small part, when he can easily fund a lavish launch “It is important to do a supporting role and work your way up as opposed to being launched as a lead star, like it happens in Bollywood,” reasons Sid in a telephonic interview from London.Sid’s journey into the fascinating but unstable celluloid world began three years ago. He left his dad’s business and relocated to LA to pursue his dream career. “I realised that I was not cut out for a corporate role, where I sit on my chair for eight hours and make decisions.
I always wanted to act and have participated in plays in my school days,” he admits. He promptly enrolled himself for a master’s programme at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He shares his alma mater with icons like Laurence Olivier and Judy Dench amongst others. Isn’t acting an organic process Can a school teach you how to act, if it isn’t an inherent talent “I agree. But in life, we all go through varied experiences and you are taught how to tap into those inner emotions while performing. You are trained how to use your voice, which I believe is important for any performer. There are also technical aspects like how to stand, walk and emote while facing the camera. It’s an intense experience and helps you connect with your inner self,” says the 28-year-old who confesses that contrary to expectation his journey so far has not been a cakewalk. “In America, the surname Mallya doesn’t ring a bell. Maybe in London, people may know me better. So it may open a few doors as people may have seen my pictures and feel I suit a certain part. So they call me for an audition.
But that doesn’t really matter. I have gone through my share of struggles, going for audition after audition and getting rejected,” he adds.Unlike the general perception, of a rich, spoilt brat, Sid insists he has had a normal upbringing. “I was sent off to boarding school at the age of 10 and things were never given to me on a platter. Unlike in India, where people in their 50s live with their parents, I’m used to living on my own and handling my life,” he insists.Sid has even done a small role in The Homecoming. “I got to act opposite Lauren Bowles (half-sister of Julia Louis-Dreyfus). I was just happy to share screen space with her,” he adds.

This is the age of online start-ups and crowd-funding, with youngsters all over the country coming up with innovative business ideas in tune with the times. Sunny Leone This is the age of online start-ups and crowd-funding, with youngsters all over the country coming up with innovative business ideas in tune with the times. It is also the age of celebrities — film as well as television actors — turning investors in, or even co-founding, some of these. From Gul Panag’s fitness app Mobiefit and Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt’s ticket buying portal Ticketplease.com to The Label Corp fashion and interiors portal bringing in Sussanne Khan, Malaika Arora Khan and Bipasha Basu for three separate sections, and even Salman Khan hopping on to the online bandwagon with his shopping portal, KhanMarketonline.com, starry start-ups are on the rise and how.
The start-up scene in India is currently booming with an equal number of innovators and investors chasing the market, and celebrities are no different,” says market analyst Sameer Rastogi, managing partner at India Juris. He adds, “Over the last few years, we have seen a boom in the number of celebrities dipping more than a toe in the vast pool of tech start-ups and investments in the West. Now, in India, too, the surge is happening.” Prashant Puri, co-founder and CEO, AdLift, points out that the digital space, in particular, is finding a lot of takers. “Recently, former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar invested in Bengaluru-based Internet of Things (IoT) company Smartron India and Yuvraj Singh has a $10 million seed fund called YouWeCan Ventures and when it comes to celebrity angel investing in the West, Ashton Kutcher is the best in the game. He knows how to spread his seed far and wide, which has helped him reach an amazing amount of success by investing in start-ups such as Skype, Airbnb, Foursquare, Hipmunk and LikeALittle, to name just a few.
It’s safe to say that this man is addicted to investing in good ideas,” he shares. For start-ups, celebrity investments have multiple benefits — funding, global exposure through the celebrity’s personal brand and indirect VC advice, points out Prashant. “In the West, one of the best examples would be actress Jessica Alba. She invested in an e-commerce site called The Honest Company, a consumer goods company that emphasises non-toxic household products. Her association helped the brand reach out to a mass audience base and today the brand is one of the leading e-commerce sites in the West. A similar parallel can be drawn with Karisma Kapoor’s investment in Babyoye. She brought in the credibility of a celebrity who is also a mother herself, showing https://www.zjhyd.com/ Electric Instant Water Heater Faucet Suppliers trust in a new company.
So, the market value of the company immediately shot up a little,” he explains. The celebrities themselves, he says, get the most out of their investment when the targeted demographic matches their own followers and fans. “It is easy to tap the market if an audience has already been established. For example, The Label Corp that has brand endowments by Malaika Arora Khan, Sussanne Khan and Bipasha Basu for various branches like home décor, fashion and accessories — each face’s personal brand helped to bring the start-up to the next level,” he points out.Sameer points out, however, that in a lot of cases, the celebrity does not decide on the investment himself/herself. “Their wealth managers do the necessary basic ground check, which typically consists of evaluating whether a start-up is worth investing in and if so, how much funding they will get.” I have been building a brand and name for so many years: Sunny LeoneSunny Leone is no stranger to entrepreneurship, and affirms that time and experience along with everything she has learnt along the way has given her a wealth of entrepreneurial experience. “I started my own business when I was 18 and have been building a brand and name for myself for so many years that I thought it was time to capitalise on it and create something of my own,” she says. Talking about the space she has entered as an entrepreneur now — perfumes — she shares, “I’ve always believed in merchandising even before I got into movies, so the idea of creating a perfume line made the most sense to me and to my team. Being able to do things other than movies is a big deal for me too.
I’m involved with every single aspect. It’s very important and very personal to me. I have picked everything from the scents to the colours and bottles every tiny detail was chosen by me and my team, and my decision was the final one.” Sharing her business philosophy, she says, “My personal business belief is the test-test-test theory. You just test and see if something works — if it does and you see results, you stick with it. Also, being able to know when it’s time to start micromanaging and letting other people do their jobs is extremely important!”Anita Hassanandani ReddyTheBagTalk and LiftieeAnita Hassanandani Reddy, of Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein fame, has two start-ups on her entrepreneurial check-list: TheBagTalk, a platform founded by her husband Rohit Reddy that will go live in September and Liftiee, a ride-sharing app of which the actress is one of the investors. She points out that we’re in an age that presents us with some of the best opportunities for investment because of the kind of ideas coming up, especially geared towards the youth. “People are coming up with such innovative ideas these days. I feel these kinds of concepts can really, really work in today’s day and age,” she says and shares that one of the things that drew her to investing in Liftiee was its innovative concept. “I liked the idea. There have been times when we’ve all taken a lift or been stuck in a jam and wondered how a bike could have gotten us wherever we need to be, on time. I thought it was a very cool idea and something that I would use myself too. Plus, it’s connected with social media so it’s also a way of connecting with people, besides reducing traffic,” she avers.TheBagTalk appeals to her creative side. She says, “My husband understands that for an actor, it’s important to have something on the side because what we do is not going to last forever. He’s taken up TheBagTalk as a full-time business within which he’s gifted me a line of bags of my own called AHR, for Anita Hassanandani Reddy, which I will be creatively involved in.”Manoj BajpayeeMuvizzNot all celebrities are hopping on to the start-up bandwagon for the monetary aspect of the move. Ace actor Manoj Bajpayee attributes his involvement in Video On Demand (VoD) platform Muvizz to his passion for independent films and documentaries. “This is the best way to actually save and archive the assets that they are, so often lost in the shelves of government and subsidiary institutions. That is where the thought behind the platform came from, along with a drive to make available films that are having a very hard time in getting a release. Distributors are not interested in anything other than mainstream or middle-of-the-road cinema and so, a lot of great content is not even reaching the audience. That’s why when my partner, Abhay (Abhayanand Singh) came up with this concept, I immediately said yes because it spoke to my passion for good films,” he tells us. Launched by Abhayanand Singh and Piiyush Singh, Muvizz is an online Video On Demand (VoD) platform offering a curated list of titles including short films, documentaries and feature films in various languages.Talking about his role in the start-up, Manoj says, “I am the brand ambassador, mentor and partner. I hate how corporate it sounds, to be honest, because this is not a start-up intended to create money. It is intended to create awareness about these films and to create a community that will share views on the cinema they will have access to on the portal. I am involved creatively in the content and also in creating strategies to generate awareness about the service. This venture is a passion for all of us who are working day in and day out on it. You should come and see our office — our means are very limited, we have not over-stretched our needs and we are not immediately looking for big investors either. We want, first, to satisfy ourselves.”Gul PanagMobieFitThe actress-turned-politician along with her friend Gourav Jaswal has co-founded MobieFit Technologies Pvt Ltd, an m-Fitness venture focused on all-round health and fitness. “Fitness is something that I have always been passionate about, so being seen as an advocate of fitness and its impact on life, for me, became apparent with the advent of social media. My dedicated community on social media would keep asking for advice on fitness issues. In this day and age, I thought a DVD or video couldn’t be the final solution to their fitness-related queries. Also, I fundamentally believe that we don’t need to outsource our health and fitness to a third party. It needs to be in our own control, in our own time and as per our individual capability. This is how MobieFit was born. It is good that people are going to nutritionists, health experts or dietitians but ultimately, you have to be sitting on top of it all. If an app can give you that solution, then why not ” From walking to strength training to running, the start-up has three apps in the market. “The Running app is India’s highest downloaded fitness app. Then we have a new app called MobieFit body that deals with strength training and another app called Walk, which is meant for recuperative, post-operative purposes.”Gul is involved in everything from ideation to scaling up the venture. She shares, “Our offices are in Goa. I try to be there at least once a quarter. I’m extremely involved in ideation as well as all plans that involve scaling up and reaching revenue targets that have been set by the investors. At present, we have a 22 member team and a full-time chief operating officer.”Does being a celebrity add an advantage in pushing the venture in the right direction “It helps us in reaching out to more people. I am definitely a marketing tool that the company can and should utilise and I am 24/7 available for the same,” she says.Saumya Tandon1018 MB.comOne of the two coveted bhabhijis on &TV’s popular show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, Saumya Tandon is the co-founder of 1018 MB.com, an on-demand alternative screening platform for movies in India. “Being a passionate movie lover and a part of the industry, the concept of this venture is very close to my heart. I realised with time that our industry is obsessed with only big-ticket, star-studded films and its structure does not support a lot of good content and talent. Thus, those among the audience with an appetite for niche cinema are starved for choice. 1018 MB is therefore geared as a democratic platform of movie screening where the audience chooses the films they want to watch, in a theatre of their choice at a convenient date and time,” she shares, adding, “I believe that rising mobile internet usage and improving demographics will transform movie viewing in India. 1018 MB is founded on the belief that going to theatres will remain relevant in India since it is one of the most important social activities. I feel that through the use of technology, big data and our neural algorithms, we can lead to the next revolution in the Indian theatre industry too.”About what she brings to the table besides her celebrity status, she says, “I am the industry insider — I understand the problems of the industry and know the talent that needs to be brought on the platform, so I remain central to the concept. I ask the questions and my team — which consists of engineers and MBAs — provides solutions. In fact, I frequently say that I am the only normal person in a team full of geeks, which makes me special!”She has also invested in Jugnoo, an on-demand Auto rickshaw service.ShaanHappydemicSinger Shaan’s wife, Radhika Mukherji, and Amar Pandit recently co-founded Happydemic — an online entertainment platform operated by Happy Gaana Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. “The platform aims to connect music lovers and musicians,” Shaan says, adding, “The aim is to bridge the gap between the customer and the artiste and also help users find the perfect act that they can book in an easy and systematic way. My role in the set-up is to provide creative input and support for the platform. I bring in my knowledge and understanding of the field, which helps as a performing artist.”The singer points out that while there has been a marked rise in the number of digital start-ups in India recently, there is a dearth of platforms in this particular space. “There is huge demand for quality entertainment in our country but the existing aggregators are quantity-focussed and function more like a listing of service providers. Happydemic, on the other hand, will follow a B2C model to bridge the gap between a customer and an artiste,” he avers.Inputs by Aditi Pancholi Shroff and Geetha Jayaraman

An office is a space of open interaction

An office is a space of open interaction, but certain invisible walls must exist that are not https://www.zjhyd.com/product/zh-sc-series/ China electric water heater Suppliers meant to be breached by men or women.Recently, on my way home from work, I was horrified when I received four videos of very gory, graphic porn from an otherwise quiet carpenter I had been working with during my interior design projects.
He had, till that day, used WhatsApp only to convey designs of table bases et al. I had to park on the side of the street to deal with my shock and outrage. My male friends said to me, you must have been nice to him.
Whatever could that have meant I mean, is being nice in a working relationship an invitation for an attack on my modesty When I look at women’s issues at the workplace and their relationships with their colleagues, I feel that looking upon any woman as a sexual object is detrimental to the growth of an entire economy. After all, a female professional is no different from a male professional. Each might have her own method, practice, scope, dexterity and IQ — and none of these are gender issues. A change in the attitude of males is not only required, but absolutely necessary in the professional space along with a clear sense of boundaries. An office is a space of open interaction, but certain invisible walls must exist that are not meant to be breached by men or women.
And this must begin from the beginning. A change in male-oriented education that still contains covert signifiers of discrimination as well as objectification of women as sexual objects, can lead to much greater professional productivity among both genders. At a young age if both boys and girls are taught the right values and enabled to understand respect for all individuals, man and woman alike, it could go a long way. As for me personally — I do get taken seriously in relationships at work, by my male as well as female colleagues. My observation is that a lot depends on how I approach a relationship at work, especially with a male employee. I believe that confidence, belief in my agenda and a degree of astuteness goes a long way.
Society will take a while to really alter its patriarchal view of women at work, but I’m optimistic and feel that women can do a great deal to help themselves in the professional space. The most important need of the hour is for them to effectively deal with their sometimes tricky equations with men at work. It is extremely important that both be educated in mutual respect. In a more general sense, the business community in India is viewed as a very patriarchal setup, but this very community has some of the most successful professional women in the world — Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Anu Aga, Indira Nooyi and so many more. And their success stands testimony to the fact that women have as much potential for business acumen and professional skill as men do. Actress Anushka Sharma was recently quoted as saying, “If there is an actor of the same stature as me, who would be able to bring in only that much money to a movie, he would still be paid more than me because he is a guy. Nobody is even thinking about it. It is just ingrained.”
This needs to change, in the film industry and otherwise. Besides the work space, a conducive attitude within the immediate family is also of the utmost importance. If a woman is blessed with an open-minded family, or if she can get them to open their minds by her own grit and determination to do something with her life, then nothing can stop her from finding her way in the world. I am not a torch-bearing feminist but I do believe that a greater sense of fairness needs to pervade in society where women can tap into their potential for the professional space and not simply be reduced to objects of desire or domesticity. The writer is a columnist, designer and brand consultant. How difficult it is to take failures, even small ones, I realised once again last week. After having driven cars for nearly 40 years in India and abroad, the examiner in Vienna failed me in my driving test. While some labelled it as a case of “anti-foreigner” syndrome, I painfully discovered how the feeling of failure and rejection dominated the rest of my day.All of us, some more often than others, go through the experience of failure and/or rejection in life, like failure in exams or interviews; in things not working out as planned; failure in elections etc.
The most common experience of rejection and failure is in love. And it is never easy to overcome the feeling of rejection and failure. The usual questions of “why” and “how” could it happen to me, and “What wrong did I commit to deserve this ” keep haunting us. Sometime the feeling goes deep enough to drive individuals into worst kinds of depression. Such rejections can often drain our energy and hope.Though not always easy, fortunately there is an in-built mechanism in us human beings to defeat our failures and rejections for we are all part of God’s beautiful creation. And ultimately it is in becoming aware of God’s presence within us that we would find the best solutions. It helps us tap God’s https://www.zjhyd.com/product/zh-sc-series/ wholesale instant heating tap mighty power and absolute love abiding deep within us.
The prayer of the Psalmist in the Bible reminds one, “If God is for us, who can be against us ” Prophet Isaiah expresses his experience of God even more beautifully: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you”.The famous Dutch Catholic priest Henri Nouwen who combined psychology with theology and worked with mentally and physically handicapped people, wrote, “The real trap, however, is self-rejection. As soon as someone accuses me or criticises me, as soon as I am rejected, left alone, or abandoned, I find myself thinking, “Well, that proves once again that I am a nobody.
I am no good... I deserve to be pushed aside, forgotten, rejected, and abandoned”. Self-rejection is the greatest enemy of the spiritual life because it contradicts the sacred voice that calls us the “beloved”. Being the beloved constitutes the core truth of our existence. Having experienced God’s unstinted support, St. Paul could write as Jesus saying to him, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’.” And finally it is always good to remember that failures are the only way to become better and perfect.Father Dominic Emmanuel, a founder-member of the Parliament of Religions, can be contacted at frdominic@gmail.com

Among those may be considered if they apply for the post are top executives of private airlines. As reported by this newspaper earlier this month, the public enterprises selection board (PSEB) had not found any suitable candidate to eventually replace Mr Nandan.
The PSEB — which had interviewed three candidates for the post of AI CMD earlier this month — had asked the government to “choose an appropriate course of further action for selection”. Sources in the civil aviation ministry said that the PSEB has not been able to find any suitable candidate. The government appears keen to explore the possibility of finding a suitable candidate from the private sector, thereby widening the scope of the proposed new search panel’s efforts to find a suitable candidate.

While many will argue that the New Xbox One Experience is a mere facelift, it actually makes life on the Xbox One smoother and much faster. The update changes the basic layout and functionality of the Xbox One OS with Windows 10, making accessing various tabs and apps much more convenient from any screen. Earlier, a double tap of the Xbox Button would allow you to choose which app to open in snap mode, but now all the snapable apps are accessible through one nifty side bar that is always accessible with a simple double tap.
Now, you can join a party with friends or send out invites within seconds, as opposed to the painfully slow method on the old Xbox One UI. One of the most noticeable changes is to the home screen of the console which now has three main tabs on top. Home: Where you find your recent games and collection; Community: for all your friends activity feeds and finally the Store for picking up new games and deals. While the New Xbox has indeed made life on the Xbox One much faster and better, it’s not even the biggest talking point about the fall update; Enter Backwards Compatibility.
The general public now has access to 104 Xbox 360 games that are now available on the Xbox One as part of the backwards compatibility program where gamers themselves vote for games that Microsoft then works with publishers to bring to the Xbox One. Even then this is still just a small number with the next major game changing update coming early in 2016 with more windows 10 features and the possible introduction of Cortana to Xbox One.

The sounds from the SoundSpa can help cut the distraction to your kids from other sounds in the home, such as a vacuum cleaner, the air conditioner, blender, cookers, etc, which the child is not used to hearing on a daily basis, and which could startle her, disturbing her sleep or feeding routine.Ambient noise is what helps relax many out there.-4 x Battery or adapter operated. This device is aimed to be a medical device and hence it is made as a single function device. However, this device is medically approved and certified as the Official Sound Conditioner by the National Sleep Foundation of America, it definitely assures you that it has been tuned for the right sound frequencies. This will help in getting better sleep and wake up completely charged. However, at the price of Rs 1,999, it seems like an expensive affair, especially where one can simply download the said noise tracks on a smartphone or a compatible Bluetooth speaker which people nowadays already own.-15-minute, 30-minute or 60-minute auto-off timer. The centre has a speaker grille and the track buttons are placed all around it. You could relate it to noise cancellation, but not by negating the ambient sound.
The SoundSpa is completely portable and you can take it anywhere you want, be it a hotel room, outdoors on a camping trip or to a friend’s place. It can get pretty loud so that it can be used for multiple people in the room or if used in a larger room.-Compact, lightweight for easy portability. Noises are more likely to wake you from a light sleep (stages 1 and 2), than from a deep sleep (stages 3 and 4), and tend to be more disruptive in the second half of the night. It is known that adults sleep or relax better to white noise. And when we are actually in a place of pin drop silence, we can hear a weird tweeeeing sound in our ears that tend to irritate us to the worst. Whether sounds disturb your sleep depends on factors such as the stage of sleep you're in, the time of night, and even your feelings about the sounds # themselves. As for the performance, the device does work as stated.SoundSpa is a product from HoMedics, which probably will get you covered if you are planning on investing in a noise machine for yourself.
SoundSpa is a product from HoMedics and is certified as the Official Sound Conditioner by the National Sleep Foundation of America. There are several noise machines and apps available out there. It sports buttons for each type of tracks, volume control and a timer button for how long the tracks have to playback for. About the size of a small portable Bluetooth speaker, the SoundSpa sports a dual tone silver and white colour. Interestingly, whether or not a sound bothers your sleep depends in part on that sound's personal meaning: researchers have seen that people are more likely to wake when a sound is relevant or emotionally charged. Rating: Sound machines are not unheard of but are pretty uncommon in India

2019年11月25日 就職・転職Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk on Monday tweeted that he would work with buyout firm Silver Lake and investment bank Goldman Sachs as financial advisers on a proposal to take private the electric car maker. But a source said Silver Lake was offering its assistance to Musk without compensation and had not been hired as a financial adviser in an official capacity. Moreover, Silver Lake is not currently discussing participating in the deal as an investor, the source said. Silver Lake declined to comment.Musk, who is still looking for funding for the plan, also said law firms Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz and Munger, Tolles & Olson would be legal advisers on the plan.Musk shocked markets last week with the tweeted announcement that he was considering taking Tesla private for $420 a share, a price that valued Tesla at more than $70 billion, and that he had "funding secured.
What exactly Musk had intended by saying "secured" has emerged as a potential legal and regulatory minefield for the Silicon Valley billionaire after his unorthodox disclosure. No investors have stepped forward publicly as being involved, and Musk now faces investor lawsuits claiming securities fraud and a reported SEC probe into the tweets.Goldman and the two law firms were not immediately available for comment. The chief executive of the electric car company said earlier on Monday that the manager of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund had voiced support for the company going private several times, including as recently as two weeks ago, but also said that talks continue with the fund and other investors.
Musk said he is also working on figuring out what share of investors will likely roll their stake into a new private company, and by extension exactly how much capital he needs to buy remaining investors out.Tesla shares rose 0.26 per cent to $356.41. They had closed at $376.57 on Tuesday after jumping 11 per cent on Musk’s announcement."I left the July 31st meeting (https://www.zjhyd.com/) with no question that a deal with the Saudi sovereign fund could be closed, and that it was just a matter of getting the process moving," Musk said."This is why I referred to ‘funding secured’ in the August 7th announcement."The Saudi fund over nearly two years had approached him repeatedly about taking the company private, Musk said, and the latest meeting came after it took a nearly 5 per cent stake in Tesla.Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) manages more than $230 billion in assets, but about 65 percent of that is stakes in large Saudi companies and most of the rest has been committed in overseas deals such as funding commitments to Blackstone Group LP’s US infrastructure fund or SoftBank Group Corp’s Vision Fund.
The Saudi fund intends to sell its $70 billion stakes in Saudi Basic Industries to oil giant Aramco, which could free up funds for new deals, but that sale may take months to conclude.Yasir Othman al-Rumayyan, managing director of the PIF, referred Reuters to the corporate communications team, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Musk said that since his Twitter post on the possibility of a deal the managing director of the Saudi fund had expressed support for proceeding subject to financial and other due diligence.PIF officials have said in the past that decisions at the sovereign wealth fund are made with care, emphasizing corporate governance.
The PIF board is headed by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.Musk on Monday said he was talking to other potential investors but did not provide any details on the exact source of funding.Meanwhile, Musk faces the scrutiny of his tweet on secured funding.Securities lawyers said US law requires executives and companies to have a "reasonable basis" on which to make statements, meaning the fact Musk said he believed he had secured a verbal agreement for the funding after the July 31 meeting could put him on a firmer footing with the SEC.It remains unclear if his definition of "secured" matches those of a reasonable shareholder, who may believe the statement indicated Musk had a written agreement, they said."This supports the idea that there was reasonable basis on which to believe that funding could be secured but it doesn’t eliminate the concern with respect to whether ‘secured’ was an overstatement and only underscores how inappropriate Twitter was for such a disclosure," said Zachary Fallon, a former SEC attorney and principal at law firm Blakemore Fallon.
Wall Street had voiced doubts about Musk’s ability to pull off what could be the largest-ever go-private transaction, valued at as much as $72 billion.Musk on Monday estimated two-thirds of existing Tesla shareholders would roll over their holdings into a private company but said that he was still talking with major shareholders and advisers before settling on a structure for the deal.Musk added that most capital for the deal would come from equity and it would not be "wise" to burden the company with added debt. Discussing full details on the plan, including the source and nature of the funding, would be "premature" now, he said.A major investment from Saudi Arabia would likely trigger a review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, which scrutinizes deals for potential national security concerns.Jeremy Zucker, co-head of Dechert’s International Trade practice, said two key determinations would be made if a deal moved forward: whether Tesla contained critical technologies and whether the involvement of Saudi financing was a national security issue. The multi-agency oversight operation could also determine whether the investment gave the Saudi’s access to critical technology.(Source)

They may be the best at their game but they believe a little bit of superstition can give them the edge. Even in the age of reason and science, the pull of superstition proves an irresistible force; (https://www.zjhyd.com/product/zh-sc-series/) Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao. The Telangana chief minister swears by his lucky number six.
The timing of his meeting and the date of his calling for dissolving the Assembly were to do with the number. Even at the height of the age of reason and science, which is hoping to put man on Mars, the pull of superstition proves an irresistible force.Politicians are probably poor examples for arguments in favour of the scientific temperament because they believe intensely in luck. They are at the mercy of the voice of the people, even in the age of the social media when the Russians are thought to be clever enough to swing US elections.
Another class of people equally conscious of the play of numbers is from the sporting arena. You would imagine someone in the silkiest class of sporting skills like the 20-time tennis Grand Slam winner Roger Federer would have no faith in numbers. As a master of the angles, maths and geometry do touch his play on the rectangular court, but numbers? The Swiss master who plays with the famous precision of his country’s watches says he constantly ponders the significance of the number eight.
I’m born on the 8th of the 8th in ’81. I like that number,” he said at the US Open. Those were rare words from a player of sublime skills who suffered none of the eccentricities of his fellow great Rafael Nadal for whom even the bottles of water and energy drink has to be on the precise side of his chair by the court.Even the greatest of them all was, however, to be denied a shot at another US Open crown. It was not his skills or his lucky number but the heat of the autumnal New York night in global warming days that got to the 37-year-old. Sweating buckets and changing clothes twice in the match did not help Federer’s cause against Tillman.Federer is not the only one who ponders the power of eight, a number the Chinese love the most while it is somewhat feared in most other parts of the world. But not in science where they are suddenly realising the true impact of the number eight, which they believe now is of greater import to mathematics than even the magical number nine.
The theory is so abstruse it leaves you even more confused. His opponent who downed him famously — John Millman — thought he had an OCD about his game when he was a tweenager in Brisbane. “When I was, like, 12, I was crazy. I think I was super OCD,” he said. “Now it’s more about routines. I like to take my drinks in certain orders and all that. I don’t want to go back to when I was a little kid. I was really in my head back then,” he said at the US Open.
Cricketers are an even greater superstitious lot, maybe because they have even more time to ponder all this in a game that moves slower than most, with the exception of the modern T20s, of course. A tug on the peak of the cap or grill of the helmet, a tug on the left pad, then a tug on the right pad, a twirl of the bat, then a tap, tap, tap in the blockhole and only then a batsman would settle into his stance. Enormous example of OCD you would think. But this is just a superstitious routine in the willow game.Players love their routines to the extent of wearing the same ‘lucky’ clothes when out in the arena.
Mohinder Amarnath took it to the extremes in washing his favourite white shirt every evening and drying it overnight before wearing it again. Sometimes he had to take blood off them from the brutality of the experience of facing the old West Indian fast bowlers in the Caribbean. Many other colleagues were forced to ponder on the factor of luck while being frequent visitors to West Indies hospitals.Sachin Tendulkar, the greatest of the modern masters who made a century of centuries, would invariably put his left pad on first. Sportsmen derive comfort from such rituals even if success and failure evens out in the end with regard to the specific routine followed. Career-long idiosyncrasies do, however, take on a whole new meaning from the sheer longevity in case of the legends. Before he serves, the 32-year-old Rafael Nadal will pick at his shorts, brush his eyebrows, caress his nose while Novak Djokovic would bounce the ball so many times before service that he would leave opponents fretting over whether he would serve at all.
Nadal’s routines had no effect on a big day as his knee buckled and he lost, leaving Djokovic and Del Potro to play the final.Federer tends to shrug off all the superstitious stuff of his fellow players with the comment “I can still play tennis” although a question mark building around that statement could ask — How much longer though? It appears both ageing players Federer and Nadal are fighting to stay relevant in all the Grand Slams this season but the bigger number that tends to determine sporting careers — age — seems to be playing games on their body and mind now.The politicians have longevity on their side as it is one career option which bestows favours even on geriatrics.
Giants from both ends of the superstition and rational pendulum, however, passed away recently in Tamil Nadu, with Jaya having represented the extreme of favourite routines, colours, numbers rituals and M. Karunanidhi the opposite with little concern for such concepts. In the end, superstitions go down with the mortals only to resurface in younger people, politicians and sportsmen, most of all.
